Moments of Grace – January 2022

Once the chaos of the Christmas period has passed us by, and we have rejoiced in the birth of Christ while celebrating with our nearest and dearest, we can often find ourselves thinking about the upcoming year, which often pairs with new years resolutions. Often resolutions can fall to the wayside early in the year, and if this is something that resonates with you, you might like to take a look at this little video.

The concept of changing the idea of a resolution to introducing a theme has changed the way I make changes that are sustainable in the long term. If nothing else, we offer you some food for thought on setting goals for positive change in your life. While we are here cheering you on to make these positive changes in your life, we encourage you to spend some time in contemplation. For this months Moment of Grace, we invite you to sign up for our online courses and spend some time reflecting and deepening your faith and knowledge around our Charism and founder, St Eugene de Mazenod, among other topics.

As believers, many of us can relate to feeling a stranger in our own society at times. Values we have grown up with are now questioned, and the Christian foundation on which we have lived our lives is now shaky. Attempting to share our faith in this environment might be met with a glazed response or resistance. The newest of our online courses – Understanding the world we live in – might give us an idea of how belief systems have changed over time. The three-part series contains key aspects of Charles Taylor’s book and includes a summary of the points, a glossary of the key terms used, and reflection questions. It is intended for both an audience particularly involved in sharing faith in various contexts, as well as those who are interested in better understanding how society and faith currently interact. Consider doing the course as a new year’s resolution or as part of your season of change to find ways of better connecting with those around us.
